true story

i just had this conversation with pooks:
me: hey pookie, where is mommy's starbucks giftcard?
pooks: huh? starbucks?
me: remember a few days ago mommy had a little card with starbucks on it. you were playing with it...where did it go?
pooks: in trash mommy. me trash. [said with HUGE grin on his face]
well isn't that just swell?

all my boys...

at the park:

pooks wasn't too excited to lay in the slide, to say the least.

we did this when both bubba and pooks were babies, so we had to get one of peanut too. we'll have to try this again when he's a bit more awake--he wasn't wanting to push up very well. i need to search around and try to find their pics...but this should get nanaw off of my back make nanaw quite happy :)

*awww*

yesterday at naptime, i set peanut down in his crib for a few minutes while i read a book to the little dudes....maybe 5 minutes? he had his little singing lamb in there, singing away and he was watching his mobile. well after reading ''cookie monster and the cookie tree'' to bubba and pooks i returned to peanut to find him sound asleep:
does he look like a big boy or what?? just makes you want to say ''awwww''. of course, he only slept for about 30 minutes (that's another post!) but still--it was precious while it laster. oh and don't worry, i moved that blanket (the blue and white one to the left him) before letting him nap ;)

not me! monday

ah, time for therapy! if you have yet to read a 'not me! monday' post, you can click here and find out the scoop.

now i am a stay at home mom and i love my ''job''. i like to think that i'm pretty good at it. and i think i have a good balance between not being too soft but not being too hard on the kids either. so it certainly was not me who let each of her kids eat m&m's at 9:33 this morning because that was compromise from the nestle crunch bar that they found stashed in the back of the ''healthy snack'' drawer and wanted to eat. we all know that i would not have chocolate hidden in my house.

it was definitely not me who let her 6 month old cry it out for five solid minutes last night in an effort to convince him that he does not have to be on my boob to fall asleep. after the five minutes was up i would have never gone in the room and quietly slipped a binky into his mouth and when it worked, it would have been totally wrong for me to have been excited.

since injuring my ankle i've had to rely on B to do a lot more of the housework around here. friday night i did not fall asleep at 7:35pm and sleep until 9:30 saturday morning. since i didn't do that, then i know i didn't wake up to a completely clean house. he had not cleaned the bathroom floor, washed and dried all the towels, finished all of the laundry, washed all of the dishes, picked up all of the toys, and wiped down the kitchen table. and upon noticing the cleanliness, i certainly did not gently remind him that he forgot to disinfect and clean the bathtub. that would be totally selfish and not me at all!

and finally the biggest thing that i did not do: after repeatedly telling my two year old to not bite his brother; after reiteratting that biting hurts and makes people sad, that we love our brothers and we don't bit anyone ever; there is no way that I would softly bite his little arm to illustrate why we don't bite. and when the crying did not start, there is no way that i would scoop him up and kiss his owie and nicely say ''see? biting hurts...we don't bite'' and when the little guy did not look at his brother with his big brown eyes and say ''sorry bra-bra, no bite. sorry" i would have never smiled. nope, not me!

a morning of silliness

well today is my first day alone with the kids since my near brush with death the ankle incident. i had help all of last week from nanaw and papa. obviously B was here all weekend. well today is a new week and i am on my own. it's not so bad, i can finally put weight on my foot and walk with crutches. surprisingly it doesn't hurt any worse to put weight on it, than to not put weight on it. there is one spot on the bottom of my ankle bone (does an ankle have a bottom?) that hurts immensely but it hurts regardless of what i'm doing, so eh...i'll get over it. tomorrow i should get my walking boot so that will make things WAY easier. i'll be able to leave the house for the first time in a week! (as of now i've stuck to our house, nanaw's house and drive-thrus).

so since we cannot leave the house, i put on some cartoons this morning and we just all acted silly. singing, swinging, playing and squealing was the result and i captured most of it. i was playing with the settings on my camera and all of these pics were in manual mode. playing with the f-stop to blur the backgrounds slightly, etc. i know they aren't great but i am learning. and the kids are cute so that's all that really matters anyway!
"CHEESE"
i caught him just as he asked ''whats 'dat?"
a very excited peanut squealing
a little smirk
can you tell that he is a happy baby?
and finally the little dudes just looking cute

oh and this one pic is just for the morbidly curious. okay, maybe not morbidly curious. but it is kinda gross...it is my ankle; one week and two days after originally injuring it. it is now primarily yellow, purple and greenish in color. i have to say out of all the dumb/clumsy things that i've done in my life, this has got to be the worse bruising that i have ever had!
oh and those super hot lumberjack plaid pajama pants that i'm wearing---don't be jealous, i know they are pretty fantastic. and technically they are nanaw's that i am ''borrowing''. thanks nanaw!
