did i mention?

peanut can now sit up and play {like a real boy!} without support!? without a bumbo or pillow or a person holding him up!?
can you even believe it...he's almost 7 months old and is sitting up like a pro, he's rolling everywhere to get to his big brothers toys or power cords (really anything that he probably shouldn't have, but that he wants). we've started him on baby foods. so far his favorite is carrots...he loved carrots! yesterday he went to the doctor and he weighed in at 16lbs 13oz and was 26 1/4 inches long. he's gained 10lbs and grown almost 6 inches in just 7 months. what a big little guy!

i also thought i would share these pics that i took this morning. i was taking pictures of peanut sitting up but apparently my other boys see the camera and immediately start cheezing it up. (i have no clue as to why they would do this) so it turned into a mini-impromptu photo shoot. don't mind the pj's, afterall it wasn't even 9am yet! and i didn't really get a "perfect" picture of the 3 of them but i did get some pretty cute ones.

it's a ock-ka-gon mommy!

so way back when we lived in the ''city'' i picked up some flashcards for the boys...not anything super fancy, they were flashcards that i actually picked up at walgreens. i believe they we even like 2 packages for $5 or something...really reasonable. anyways we bought these:as well as another package for learning numbers/counting. honestly i originally bought them to help encourage bubba to speak more (we are DEFINITELY no longer worried about that!) but during the move i lost them. well i didn't lose them, i misplaced them for 8 months temporarily. well while i was in the basement searching for something but i can't even remember what that was because i got excited about flashcards i found the flashcards.

i wasn't sure exactly how the boys would take to flashcards, usually i work in educational things through fun activities: like baking cinnamon rolls to count, using sidewalk chalk to learn colors, m&m's for sorting and making patterns, etc. i literally just opened the box up and started saying ''what's that?" well imagine my surprise when bubba knew every color (except for gold), he knew every single object and well over half of the shapes. pooks knew most of the objects, none of the shapes and a few colors--not bad for just turning two! plus both boys kept saying "again mommy, again."

okay so they had fun. score! they were learning. score! but what is more amazing!? they RETAINED it! while i was driving yesterday bubba pointed out a stop sign. i said "yep, that is a stop sign, it tells mommy to stop and watch for cars." and his reply "it's an ock-ka-gon mommy....cause it has eight sides!" i was speechless. so now every errand since then, the boys BOTH yell out "ock-ka-gon" whenever they see a stop sign. they point out ones that they see on crossroads, at store crosswalks and even baby ock-ka-gon stop signs (aka: pedestrian stop signs).

i have to say that pooks may say octagon is the cutest way. ever. absolutely adorable :)

UP!

yesterday we packed the kids up after their naps and headed to the movie theater. now i will fully admit that i was nervous. who the heck takes 3 kids, all 3 and under to the movies? not to mention (but I just did mention...hmm?) that it was a movie that i actually wanted to see. so $29 later (that's 2 adult tickets, a large popcorn and a large soda) we were sitting in the 2nd row of the theater watching previews before the movie started. so far so good...all 3 kids were amazing intrigued by the giant screen and disney preview after disney preview. being the practical mom that i am, i remembered to bring little brown bags for the kids to each have their own popcorn and they were munching away. i also had back up m&ms, twizzlers and fruit snacks.

because Up! was in 3-d we all got this cute yet geeky glasses to wear. obviously b and i had no problem wearing them and even bubba kept his on the entire movie. every now and then i'd hear ''mommy, my gasses too big'' and i'd have to adjust them but that was it. pooks wouldn't wear his at all but he didn't seem to mind. much to my surprise, it ended wonderfully!

all 5 of us were able to snack and enjoy the movie without a single meltdown! no spilt popcorn, no dropped contraband m&m's, and only one potty break. peanut fell asleep in my babyhawk carrier shortly after the beginning of the movie and he woke just as the ending credits started rolling down the screen.

the boys loved the movie and from an adult's perspective, it was really cute. both b and i thought it was a good movie, very cute and so original. it wasn't like 'the land before time IIXXVI'--it was a completely new story with a super cute ending. an actual original thought that played out beautifully. we give it 5 thumbs up :)

so he's been flipping from front to back, rolling here and there. he's getting quite good at it. he quickly can roll both directions (meaning belly to back or back to belly). well on friday he rolled everywhere! from his blanket to the boys "Cars" rug where he had quite a bit of fun...
that is until bubba took away his tractor and told him ''no no baby c. you're too yittle."
oh i don't think either of them realize how often they will be saying/hearing that phrase! the joy of brothers :)

true story

i just had this conversation with pooks:

me: hey pookie, where is mommy's starbucks giftcard?
pooks: huh? starbucks?
me: remember a few days ago mommy had a little card with starbucks on it. you were playing with it...where did it go?
pooks: in trash mommy. me trash. [said with HUGE grin on his face]
