not me! monday
i have to admit that i am enjoying this ''not me!" monday confessional. much like mckmama said today, it's rather therapeutic! family, friends and random people at target tell me that "the boys are SO well behaved" or that i am "such a great mom" and while i will gladly accept all those compliments, and know deep down that they are true, it's nice to come clean about a few little things. for examplei most definitely did not set off the smoke detector while
i also am not so immature as to inhale helium while airing up party balloons and then sing (in that high pitched squeaky voice) ''happy birthday'' to sweet little pookie. three seperate times...while being video taped. nope, not me. i am a great role model to my children and would never do such a thing. but if i did, i know that i would stress that only grown up's are allowed to do it!
and there is no way that a stay at home mom like myself would allow my hubby to do all the dirty laundry by himself on a sunday. and i certainly wouldn't take a 3 hour long nap while he did the laundry. and i definitely wouldn't ask him come in from doing the laundry and ask him to change the baby's diaper. nope, not me! that would be so selfish.
finally i know that i would never stay up til almost 1am ecstatically excited that i am finally able to twitter via my cell phone. i would not then go so far as to add a twitter feed to my blog on the right side beneath peanut's bio. nope, not me! that would be so silly to get so excited about something like that...like people care what i'm doing throughout the day! gee sh!

hey mom!
happy mother's day mom! and to all the mommies out there reading this too, ''happy mother's day!"
i for one, had a wonderful day. the hubs and the little dudes let peanut and i sleep in while they were "quietly" getting ready to go out. (well they were as quiet as a 2 year old and a 3 year old can be) they surprised me by bringing home flowers, a caramel macchiato and donuts! it was so sweet and i was spoiled rotten! i also received a beautiful necklace engraved with the boys' names (with a keepsake box), a card and a gift card for starbucks....how sweet is that?! but the icing on the cake was a 3.5hr NAP that i took cuddled up with peanut this afternoon.
it. was. wonderful.
then my own mama got me a card with a note, apparently she and i are having a ''date'' night on friday but i know no details....hmmm! i can't wait to see what she's got up her sleeve.
speaking of, here is nanaw opening her gifts last night:
a few weeks ago our mom's group got together and made gifts for all the grandmas: canvas totes and/or aprons complete with the kids handprints and footprints. nanaw received one of each as well as another gift from moi but i can't blog about that just yet ;)

arrr! it's a pirate party matey!
today we celebrated pooks' 2nd birthday! i can't even believe that my little guy is almost two years old...i think i'm in denial. we had a very nice small party at the house; the weather was perfect and the kids burned off tons of energy running around outside. since originally rain was in the forecast, we decided (kind of at the last minute) to order pizzas instead of grilling hot dogs and hamburgers. let me tell you, mama was pleased ;) it's SO much easier and less stressful to just order pizza and the kids like it even more.
so we had pizza, opened presents and then had cake & ice cream. the theme was obviously pirates, hence people wearing bandannas and earrings.
showing his 'pirattitude' with his mommy
the whole scene (food and gift table were in the garage)
playing in their pirate ship mommy made them
(it's amazing how toddlers get SO excited over the littlest things!)
(btw, papa is in there too!)
papa was wearing a hoop earring and pooks thought it was so funny
bubba in his "pirate" shirt
(it's a halloween shirt from old navy but to a 3 years old, skelton=pirate)
bubba FINALLY getting to "eats cakes"
(he had been talking about eating this cake before the cake was even made!)
thanks everyone!

"mommy? mommy?! mommmmyyy!"
this is what i woke up to at 6:58 this morning. i will be honest here, i rolled over and told B to tell them that the sun was still sleeping and so was mommy, that they needed to lay back down. {keep in mind that they didn't go to bed til after 9pm last night}
well, not to anyone's surprise that didn't work. their yelling and playing with each other made peanut realize that the didn't have to go back to sleep either. so by 7:05 B was opening the gate so that bubba could get to the bathroom. and then he went in the boys' room with them, laying in pookie's bed hoping for a few more minutes of sleep while i was laying in our bed nursing peanut.
that's when it hit me. i woke up to someone yelling ''mommmyyyy."
but it wasn't bubba yelling.
which by a simple deduction, made me realize that it was pooks who called me mommy. it was pooks who woke up, not only wanting me but wanting his "mommy" not ''ma" or "mama."
there is a first time for everything people! this is the same little dude that didn't even call me ''mama'' until after his 1st birthday. since that time, he's always called me mama. ALWAYS.
which means that today was officially the first time that he's called me mommy. and i realize that this is a novely that will soon wear off, but for now, i love it. he says it so sweetly and it just melts my heart!
