Finally! Bubba's birthday pics...

Yes! Blogger (while still being highly annoying with uploading pictures) is finally allowing me to upload so we're going all out with the pictures today. Originally we had planned on having a pizza party at home. At the last minute we changed that to a pizza party at Pizza Hut, using their party room. It worked out wonderfully! While we didn't get to go crazy on the decorating, the space was perfect and we didn't have to clean near as much. Totally worth it! Here are the pictures from Bubba's Birthday party...enjoy :)

Nanaw and Connor eyeballing the pizzas
The theme of the party was Scooby-Doo. In honor of that, Nanaw made a Scooby cake
and because I love chocolate, I made dirt cups. Instead of gummi worms, graham cracker Scooby Snacks were buried in the dirt
The birthday boy eating with some of his family and friends
Okay...blogger isn't letting me fit all the pics so I'm having to seriously condense down. Needless to say there were almost 30 people at the party. I did get pics but can't upload them. Let's move on to some present opening, shall we:
opening up his Haunted House from Ashly and Belle
Notice Bubba's customized Scooby shirt, courtesy of Papa :)
Everybody watching him open gifts
Excited about the stickers inside the card
When Bubba opened up the present with this Scooby, he immediately said ''[Pooks], dis one is for you!" Yeah, super sweet and pooks loves it!
Bubba got, a ton of presents. I took a ton of pics. Again, I can't post them all so moving on to cake...

attempting to blow out that candle...
pooks had to come in as back up and help
Finally, after about 10 tries they got that candle out!

Pooks digging into to both cakes.
The Birthday Boy saying ''Mmmmm"
and lastly, Peanut. Who on his own birthday wouldn't touch the cake. Yeah, not so much this time...dirt cake was apparently worth the mess!

it was eggcellent

Today, we met up with Katie, Brandon and E who were in town for a visit. After a delicious lunch at Mr. Goodcents, we headed to the zoo. Today was their Eggstravaganza event and the kids had a blast. Basically they had Dinosaur eggs laid out throughout the entire zoo, as well as little booths and tables about animals, bones and fossils. It's a little zoo, while it has chimps and tigers there are no giraffes, elephants, rhinos, lions, etc. It's a fun way to use up at afternoon :) This was the first time we went where peanut was actually awake the entire time and could see the animals. I took a ton of pics, the boys were in great moods and behaved very well. Here are a few:
Pooks standing with the cheetahs (yes, his eyes are closed)

All of the kids enjoyed watching the otters
as well as the cranes....
peanut excited about that twizzler!

The peacocks must be in mating season. The males kept squawking and shaking their feathers while following the females who seemed highly uninterested.
Bubba had his face painted to look like a Tiger. Pooks and peanut passed on that choice!
Pooks was pretty interested in the screech owl
Spring is officially on the way. The trees had buds and even a few blooms!
and Katie's cute little family :)
Unfortunately we didn't get a group pic or a picture of all the kids. We forgot to last time too. Oh well, blame it on pregnancy brains ;)

here we go again...

On Thursday I had my first OB appointment. It wasn't anything exciting as your first appointment is with the nurse to go over medical history, previous births/pregnancies, etc. The whole ''do you plan to breastfeed/formula feed/circumsize your baby" ordeal. They also draw blood and take a urine sample as well as get your base weight and blood pressure. The nurse was nice, but I was confused when she kept saying comments about me having the appt ''late'' and almost being out of the 1st trimester. I thought I wasn't even 10 weeks at the appointment.

Well apparently, they didn't change my due date. They have no reason to. The ultrasound tech who had absolutely no bed-side manners and sucked anyway had informed me that I wasn't as far along as they thought and that I was a week behind what they originally calculated. She said that Dr P would be changing it in my file, that it shouldn't mess up my appointment schedule too much and that the new due date was Oct 29. Fine whatever. I was happy to see a baby and honestly the kiddo is gonna come when he/she feels ready not when they say that I'm due

According to the nurse, they didn't change it and won't unless it's a drastic difference or if two or more ultrasounds show a difference. Her explanation was valid; when the tech measured the embryo it was 3mm. We're talking millimeters people. If she was off even a fraction in her measurement and trust me this tech was a total idiot it translates into days and even weeks for growth.

So, what the hell does any of this mean? Well, nothing really. All it really does is screw up my weekly belly pictures as they are all off by a week now and labeled wrong. You might have noticed that the ticker has been updated to reflect my new due date. My due date is now Oct 22nd. Which is still slightly confusing as I was originally told the the 23rd but like I said it doesn't really matter.

What it will help with is at my first appt with Dr P (on apr 16th) they should be able to hear the heartbeat (hopefully!) with the Doppler. It means that our ''big'' ultrasound should be the first week in June and that I have to do the dang glucose tolerance test at the end of July. I declined the quad screening (it's pointless as we wouldn't do an amniocentesis or abort if something was wrong) and as of yesterday my weight, blood pressure and iron levels are all good.

So to round out the confusion, I'll just leave with a belly pic where I don't feel any bigger than I have previously:
Oh and the black shirt is one of those thin tissue t-shirts for layering; I'm not so big that I'm stretching my clothes to the point of being see-through.

classic toddler moment

it's 9:25pm. the boys have been in their beds since a little after 8:30. peanut is asleep and i just got out of the bath. i sneak into their room to borrow their lotion. immediately pooks sits straight up. so i say to him "go to sleep, mommy is just putting lotion on her legs." he says ''oh, okay'' and lays back down. i glance over at bubba and while he's laying perfectly still with shut eyes, i can see his eye lids fluttering ever so slightly. so i say "bubba, are you faking it?"

he opens one eye, looks at me and says ''no". then closes his eyes.

i freaking ♥ toddlers!

happy birthday bubba!

yesterday bubba turned four years old. i can barely believe it. today we go for his well child check-up so we'll see just how much he's grown in the last year.

i would love to post pics of his birthday party, however blogger isn't letting me post pictures right now. i'll try again later, otherwise i'll upload them through another site.
