Boys will be boys

Saturday was a total Fun day for the kids. We got up and out early for a trip to the Texas Transportation Museum with some friends from a local mom's group that I joined. While the ''museum'' was tiny, the boys were thrilled with the real train, the model trains and being able to ride on a train.

 They look so little!
And lastly we got to go on a real train ride...

All the boys liked it but Pooks really enjoyed it!
The train that we actually rode
After all the trains we decided to join up with one of the other families (who happen to have 3 boys as well, ages 4, 2 and 1) and visit the zoo. It is a good zoo and the kids loved it! It's not very big but it had neat animals, was really up-kept, and it was the perfect weather for it!

By far, the hippos were my favorite

Bubba couldn't wait to see elephants

  Watching the gazelles
There is a part of the zoo where you can buy a cup of Agave Nectar and feed the Lorikeets
The boys didn't like it very much but B and I thought it was really cool!
Now, I understand that being in a small area with a ton of birds might freak the kids out but seriously, Bubba was in love with the snakes! All of them. And he was even disappointed that the 28ft Anaconda wasn't in his cage...(where else they could possibly put him, I don't know but I didn't ask!) Here he is with a different snake...
And after this, my camera died. I had on a whim taken our little Cybershot point and shoot instead of my DLSR and apparently the battery wasn't fully charged :( But take my word for it, they loved it!

it was eggcellent

Today, we met up with Katie, Brandon and E who were in town for a visit. After a delicious lunch at Mr. Goodcents, we headed to the zoo. Today was their Eggstravaganza event and the kids had a blast. Basically they had Dinosaur eggs laid out throughout the entire zoo, as well as little booths and tables about animals, bones and fossils. It's a little zoo, while it has chimps and tigers there are no giraffes, elephants, rhinos, lions, etc. It's a fun way to use up at afternoon :) This was the first time we went where peanut was actually awake the entire time and could see the animals. I took a ton of pics, the boys were in great moods and behaved very well. Here are a few:
Pooks standing with the cheetahs (yes, his eyes are closed)

All of the kids enjoyed watching the otters
as well as the cranes....
peanut excited about that twizzler!

The peacocks must be in mating season. The males kept squawking and shaking their feathers while following the females who seemed highly uninterested.
Bubba had his face painted to look like a Tiger. Pooks and peanut passed on that choice!
Pooks was pretty interested in the screech owl
Spring is officially on the way. The trees had buds and even a few blooms!
and Katie's cute little family :)
Unfortunately we didn't get a group pic or a picture of all the kids. We forgot to last time too. Oh well, blame it on pregnancy brains ;)

fun-filled weekend

whew! i feel like i haven't posted in forever. we had SUCH a fun weekend. we returned to our old stomping ground to visit auntie michelle, aunt debbie, and the in-laws. of course we did fun stuff like go to the zoo, eat at red robin, visit a farmers market, and so forth. the boys did great, no major meltdowns despite sleeping in a new place and spending so much time in the car. thanks for letting us crash at your place auntie M---it worked out perfectly!

here are a ton of pictures from the zoo. now keep in mind that this is a good sized zoo; not San Diego big but MUCH larger than the dinky one here. we spent almost 6 hours at the zoo on saturday. six hours! it was a lot of fun, especially now that the boys are old enough to really get into it. bubba said his favorite was the tiger, pooks said his was the elephants. i think they both really liked the turtles best. these are not all the pictures i planned on sharing,;i actually have more but i'm using B's computer right now and this is all i can post from here.

so in no real order, here they are:
B, pooks and bubba watching the turtles
myself, bubba, pooks and auntie michelle
pooks and bubba looking at vampire bats (you can see one by bubba's hand)
pooks feeding the giraffe a branch of leaves (he dropped it he was so nervous/scared!)
bubba's turn, he liked it! despite the fact that the giraffe licked him
peanut (actually awake) with B in the tiger exhibit. well by the tiger exhibit
B acting like the tiger is eating him
auntie michelle, bubba and pooks watching the gorillas
b and peanut watching the gorillas from a distance
bubba giving the gorilla a high five
kind of a scary looking gorilla!
pooks was petting him
pooks and me admiring this blue parrot. he was just walking the fence next to us in the south america exhibit
pooks and bubba trying hard to find the iguana hiding
and lastly a short (dark) video of peanut dancing while at red robin. he was acting hysterical-dancing, hollering, eating handfuls of broccoli and then shrieking. he had a blast apparently!
