I love blogging, I really do. I don't do it for money or an audience, I do it because I like to keep track of the little things. I'm pretty sure I don't even have an audience anymore and that's okay with me. I never started blogging to entertain people. I do like that family and friends have a way of checking in on us, if they want to. I like that someone else who is moving to Italy with four kids might stumble on my blog and feel a little more reassured that they can do it. (Hey it's happened before and we're still friends on facebook after moving. Hi Riann!). I'm happy that little tutorials of mine end up on Pintrest and help someone else out.
But the well-child check ups, the day trips, the cute little stories and funny things the kids say...I know it's just ''mom stuff'' and I like it. I like that I can, with the click of a button, immediately look back on everything we did November 2008. That I can see how much the kids have grown without having to pull out the external hard drive. That I can see when they hit milestones without a self-inflected guilt trip when I pull out a damn-near-empty baby book. I know when they took their first steps. I know when I cut their hair for the first time or any other trivial little fact....because I blogged. I frequently say "I don't know where that picture is" or "I'm not sure when we went there" but I can almost always answer with ''But I know I blogged about it." and with a small search, immediately whatever it was we were looking for, it's there.
So when I look at the archive on the left and see months that have just one post, it upsets me that I didn't take two seconds to post something. I know that I'm busy living life and not blogging about it but I also know that it's never going to happen if I don't make time for it. I was just as busy in 2010 and 2011. I had four kids, had just moved and still found time to blog. I blame my lack of blogging on myself, having an iPhone and social media. It is SO easy to upload a pic to Instagram or Facebook with a quick byline and be done. But six months later when I want to show someone, I can't find it. Or at least not easily. I downloaded an app for blogging (BlogPress) but it constantly has glitches, the pictures are either super tiny or super grainy and I end up usually quitting after I've written half a post.
So, my point (I do have one!) is that I am going to try to be better. I'm going to try to update more often. The funny little things that the kids say. The pictures from playing at the park. The embarrassing stories, the illnesses. These are things that I look back on (literally, I click on 2009 and just read) that make me go ''Man, Logan hasn't changed a bit" or "I can't believe Maggie is older now than Ryan was when Connor was born...Ryan seemed so big then and Maggie seems so little now''. It's the reminders of where we have been. The tiny two bedroom duplex that we all six once lived in. The anxiety over moving to Italy. It's the memories that I don't want to lose.
This morning, I spent a few hours updating the blog but I did it by back dating the posts. So that trip to Slovenia and Croatia that we went on in July but never blogged about? Yeah, it's posted in September now as a ''throwback''. Maggie's birthday party, Halloween, our trip to Kansas...are all posted now in the month it should have been posted. I'm going to still do ''throwbacks'' on trips we took because I think they're fun and I don't want all my posts to get buried in the past. But I am back-dating the ones that are time sensitive to when they happened (Holiday's, Birthday's, etc).

I've been a busy bee
And because of that, the blogging is seriously slacking. I apologize. In my defense, in the past week:
-We dropped our Van off at the shop for repairs. It will take a week....at least.
-The heat index has been over 100 degrees for the past 7 seven days. Today we aren't in a heat advisory...oh no, we're in an "Excessive Heat Warning''. What is that you might ask, oh here ya go:
- Adding to the above point, our AC broke last night. From 10pm-11am this morning we had no AC and it was 83 degrees in the house. (another words--awful!) Thankfully it was an easy fix and we're back to enjoying the cool air.
- I completely finished Sweetcheek's bedding and I made a toddler sized rag quilt for E's 1st birthday
- I finished making the nursery letters that will spell out her name; just need to hang them up.
- I have made 9 hairbows as well as 5 flower clips for Sweetcheeks
- I sorted through all the the girl clothes that I've been given/bought, organized them, set up Sweetcheeks closet and put the bigger sizes away until we need them.
- I've started up a small hand-made business {not diaper cakes} that I will be unveiling soon. I'm super excited and have spent hours getting the website, business cards and of course, product just perfect.
Oh yeah did I mention that I have a husband, 3 small boys who have to be kept entertained as well as a very active baby growing in my uterus? Seriously she is feisty...constantly moving, poking, kicking, and elbowing me. I can hardly believe that she is already weighing in at 2+lbs and that I'm only 13 weeks from my due date. Realistically, (most likely) I'm only 10 weeks away from holding her in my arms. Next week I am officially in the 3rd trimester. Eeek! Here is a belly pic from today, 1 day shy of 27 weeks so I just rounded up.

AN EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN HIGH HUMIDITIES ARE EXPECTED TO COMBINE WITH HOT TEMPERATURES TO MAKE IT FEEL LIKE IT IS 110 DEGREES OR GREATER. PERSONS ARE ADVISED TO AVOID PROLONGED WORK IN THE SUN... DRINK PLENTY OF FLUIDS... STAY IN AN AIR- CONDITIONED ROOM... AND CHECK UP ON RELATIVES AND NEIGHBORSYeah, real fun stuff with 3 kids and being almost 7 mos pregnant. We've watched so much Phineas and Ferb that I no longer hate the show.

busy, busy, busy!
we have been so busy over the last week that blogging has been pushed to the back of the pile. sorry! between the kiddos, the weather, valentines day, going out of town to visit the in-laws, and the normal day to day stuff like cooking, cleaning and laundry--i've been too tired to blog at the end of it all! so whats up with us? well, we've all adjusted to our new routine that now includes dropping bubba off at pre-school each morning. it took about 3 weeks but the boys are finally used to hurrying in the mornings instead of going snail-pace while watching cartoons.
while he's in class, peanut, pooks and i usually run errands or go to storytime at the library...they love storytime! we usually go to the toddler class on wednesday and while peanut is a little young for it, he does pretty well. last week during a puppet show he was laughing so hard at the puppets that all the other kids (and moms) were turning around to look at him and smiling. he just thought it was hysterical and had that really deep belly laugh that was contagious. he is adorable. ornery but adorable!
he is now almost 15mos old and is so active! he's so smart too! he loves to play itsy bitsy spider and even tries to mimic the hand motions. he knows his belly, ear, head and hair and will point to them when asked. he claps, blows kisses, runs and is starting to climb! his newest (and cutest) trait is saying "yes" or "na-na-na" while shaking or nodding his head. you can ask him if he wants to eat/is tired/wants to play/needs milk and he just answers you now. talk about being easier! he'll have a well baby check-up next monday and it will be interesting to see how big he is. i'm guessing at least 24lbs--he has gotten SO heavy. all of his clothes are 18-24mos--which is unheard of for my kids! never have one of the boys been in a size that is older than their age. bubba is almost 4 and some of his tshirts are still 2T!
speaking of bubba, he is doing well. he loves school! while he's still super shy, he did tell me that he made a friend. and that girls chased him. and that some other kid chased him back. oh the drama of preschool, lol. his counting has improved tremendously; both counting out loud and recognizing the numbers in print. he loves doing his homework and looks forward to going each day. he'll be four years old next month--can you even believe that!? he chose to have a scooby doo party and is really excited for it. since figuring out all of his allergies last year, this winter has been so much easier. he hasn't (knock on wood) gotten sick, other than the sniffles. i cannot even tell you the last time that he needed a breathing treatment! it's really amazing. his eczema is much better too!
now pooks, oh sweet little pooks. he's nuts, lol. adorable, cuddly, imaginative and smart but totally nuts. okay, okay maybe not nuts. fearless is a better word. he loves jumping off of the couch into a pile of pillows. it's his new favorite thing. he's still a climber. his vocabulary is insane. (or at least seems insane compared to bubba's speech at this age.) this was a situation and conversation that occured yesterday:

bubba: mommy [pooks] colored on our kitchen.
me: pooks? did you use a crayon on your kitchen?
pooks: yes!
me: where?
pooks: right over here. takes me straight to the side of the refridgerator and points to the bright red crayon
me: pooks! what were you thinking? you know crayons are only for paper. i guess i'll have to take your crayons away.
pooks: no, no mommy! i color only on paper. i not color my kitchen no more.
i proceed to use my sleeve to rub the crayon markings off--washable crayons on a coated surface wasn't as bad as i thought!
me: pooks, where is the crayon?
pooks: huh?
me: where is the crayon now? the crayon you colored with?
pooks: looks at me. looks at his kitchen. looks at my sleeve. mom. its on your shirt.
me: stunned expression on my face. not that crayon. where is the red crayon that you used to scribble with?
pooks: i don't know. dat was a yoooooong (long) time ago mommy.
seriously?

in other news...
time for a little catch up session:
pooks has successfully finished potty training. he is in undies all day, no longer wears pull-ups at nap time and we haven't had an accident in several days! woohoo!! (we're keeping him in PU at night for a bit longer though!)
peanut now sits up completely on his own, pulls himself up to his knees and now has SIX teeth. he was 10 mos old on saturday and is just such a happy baby! he waves hi and bye, jabbers on and on, loves to scream, mimics the dog barking, crawls way too fast and has quite the temper when he doesn't get what he wants.
bubba's half-birthday is on the 28th and i cannot believe that my little guy is almost 4 years old! it seems impossible. his newest phrase is ''i'm just tired mom'' and he uses it as an excuse for anything. doesn't want to eat dinner? ''i'm just tired mom'' smacked his brother on the head then refused to apologize? "i'm just so tired mom'' misbehaves at the grocery store? yeah...you get the idea. apparently he thinks that being tired is a get out of jail free card. he is slowly learning the error of his ways!
me? i finally feel pretty good! my endometriosis is being managed, my ankle has healed up wonderfully and i have accepted the fact that peanut is weaning. we're down to nursing just once a day (usually after nap) and some days he will nurse for 10 mins, some days just 2. but he is happy, healthy and growing. i am pain-free and able to be the mommy that they all need so overall, it's working out quite well.
b is working a lot this month. luckily he didn't have to work too terribly long on saturday and actually didn't work at all on sunday. this happens every year and while it's a rough month we always get through. it isn't always easy and we aren't always the nicest to each other but we've learned to accept that!
three kids keep us busy and when one person is pulling most of the weight at home, while the other is working under high stress all day and then longer hours to boot, we both have little patience at the end of the day. while we don't take it out of the kids, it's hard not to take it out on each other. but we realize why it's happening and realize that it is almost over...only 10 days until the end of the month then things can return to normal! thankfully!

DUDE!
i'm gettin' a new Dell!
warning: this post is long, rambly, not about the kids and there are no new pictures. just didn't want any disappointment if you read it!
you may have noticed my lack of posting recently. yeah, my computer is on it's last leg. poor lil' lappy here doesn't have much life left in him. he's been good, he's a Dell Inspiron 9300 and we've had him going on 5 years now. but i think it's about time to bury him folks.
about a year ago the battery went bad. i've been watching an orange blinking light ever since then. well because i rarely use the battery it wasn't that big of a big deal. then B decided to "upgrade" me to windows Vista. after about 2 months i got used to it and now, i like it. however all the updates and activating and everything else that is popping up is highly annoying. but, i've pushed on. i close pop-ups like it's nobodies business!
well about 2 months ago my lappy started a new symptom. the power cord seemed to be messed up. i unplugged it and looked at the entire power cord and wouldn't' you know it, WIRES were showing. yikes! so B ordered me a new power cord...4 days later good as new. okay that's a lie. better but no where near new.
the new power cord worked for about a week when little lappy started showing yet another ailment....my screen would flash black screen to normal screen, black to normal screen, black...etc. sometimes it would do this forever and sometimes it would just die. so initially i was like WHAT THE HELL?! but then i realized that when it would flash it was actually changing from battery power to power cord, battery to cord, battery to cord.
well since my cord is new and my battery is bad, it's the battery right? so i removed the battery and my computer promptly flashed black, then died. again and again. my dad (who is the computer guru around here) says that the power plug is screwed up. put some tape on the end of the cord, it's just loose and this would tighten the fit. so i did that.
nope, still flashing...which honestly i've gotten used to. i'm not going to lie. between the blinking orange light, the flashing screen and the pop-ups good ol' lappy isn't as much fun but it does work. (especially if I bend the power cord at the exactly correct angle, then it doesn't usually die!) however the flashing screen is getting to me. after a long day i sit down to check my email, facebook, forums all while playing with editing photos and then blog. but lately i feel like the flashing screen is going to induce a seizure. IT IS SO ANNOYING! i'm pretty sure it's why my right eye is twitching. seriously.
but on the long list of necessities that comes with having 3 kids, a laptop is pretty low on the totem poll. i did tell B that i'd like to save up and hopefully replace it by Christmas so that was our goal.
then last week, a miracle of sorts happened. b asked me to list his motorcycle on craigslist. he decided to sell his motorcycle. first i thought he was joking. then i thought maybe he had an accident or something and never told me. well (thankfully) that wasn't it either. he genuinely felt like it was a waste of space and money. he was riding it *maybe* once a week and it was sucking up space in our already crowded garage. (hello people have you SEEN the amount of outdoor toys that 3 boys accumulate?!) so once he was super sure, i took pictures and listed it on craigslist.
in less than 24 hours we had 6 phone calls and an email. since the emailer had also phoned, B had him come look at the bike and 2 hours later it was gone. this guy loved it and b loved the check he was receiving. he even reorganized the garage! he still swears he doesn't regret it at all.
so being responsible parents that we are, we promptly invested over half that check. but the other half was more fun to spend and put to excellent use! we bought pooks a new carseat (just like the one bubba got last month), peanut is getting his new stroller (should arrive tomorrow!) and we set aside money for bubba's preschool tuition. (he's not even enrolled yet due to wait lists but we're getting prepared). we did a few fun little things like getting Chewy, and going out to dinner too. but lastly, B ordered me a laptop.
i *puffy heart* it and it's not even here yet!! thanks B! since it is a Dell, they are making it for me and it should be here around the 20th. and then i should be back to posting (without inducing a seizure or mean eye twice) shortly after! i can't wait, i am so freaking excited!!
yay!

say "hello" to my little friend
by little i mean the walking cast that goes almost up to my knee. when i walk, i feel like The Terminator. B even came up with this robotic noise that he makes while i take steps. great. to make an extremely long story short, the orthopedic doctor (whom specializes in foot/ankle injuries) is making me wear this for the next two weeks. he was very disappointed in my lack of care and wishes that either urgent care or my regular dr office would have referred me to him sooner. he thinks that the "walk on it-no don't walk on it-walk on it with a brace-no, better walk on it without a brace" crap that i've been doing for the last month only hindered my recovery time.imagine that.
huh, who woulda thought.
so i have to use this lovely honker of a boot for 2 weeks then go see him again. if the swelling and pain still hasn't subsided, he will run an MRI. he thinks that i have a grade 2 sprain on both the inside AND the outside of my ankle (is that skill or what?!) and that combined with my ''loose'' ankle joint is obviously, causing my pain. so no running, extended walking, etc for 2 weeks. i am allowed to swim and i am encouraged to play balance games on my wii. is this a sweet doctor or what? prescribing video games? holla!
---------------------------
ahem, okay so on to the kiddos:
first of all, i have some pretty kickass blog readers. most of you (if not all of you) guessed the baby pictures correctly! it was pooks, bubba and lastly peanut. you sure can tell that they are brothers!
so onto other things.while gone over the weekend we managed to finally bring back a few items that we had been storing in my in-laws garage since we moved. (you know, almost 8 months ago.) one of those items was bubba's bicycle. he was too little for it when he received it on his 2nd birthday but now he's just the right size. except for now he is also a little bit older and more stubborn. example? oh you know...how he refuses to call it his bicycle. "its a motorcycle mommy and i gotta wears my helmet". even when not moving. even while not understanding how to pedal. even when every adult within a 20 feet radius tells him he doesn't have to wear the helmet unless he's actually pedalling. he insists. here is one picture i managed to get while still at the IL's and sadly, his helmet was at home.
how cute is he? i can't wait until he can actually pedal because, i'll be honest, i do NOT have the patience to teach/explain over and over and over and over how to pedal. he gets it. he knows to pedal forwards, to the front--however you want to explain it but he just looks at you and goes "i can't." without.even.trying. makes me mentally go "AAAAAAAAAAAHHH."so a few days ago i mentioned how peanut had 2 toofers pop up, well i tried get a picture but that's not happening as of yet. they just aren't up enough yet to capture. but here is a super cute pic of him from when i was attempting to get a shot of the pearly whites:
cutie pa tootie!and lastly pooks. *sigh* he's biting. again. he thinks it's hilarious no matter what you do. and i mean no matter what you do. time out? doesn't work. biting him back? (gently! i'm not a lunatic) brought on tears, i totally hurt his feelings but alas, doesn't work. yelling? doesn't work. being sent to his room? doesn't work. getting his toy taken away? brings on the waterworks and an apology but less than 15 minutes later he bit again. i'm kinda running out of ideas for discipline. i've never had a biter before.
that picture, is totally unrelated to this post. it has nothing to do with biting at all, i just thought i'd share his sad/pouty look. (he was upset because B was watering the flowers and he got sprayed.)anyways i'm signing off to go work on a couple craft projects. a no-sew fleece blanket for peanut and an apron for myself. should be interesting!
